In 2016, life gave me a do-over.
I never stopped painting, except to pack up my studio. Through everything that has happened throughout the years, there has always been painting. This new site highlights the part of this journey that takes place in Oregon.
There were reasons I fled across the country, again, but more importantly, I missed the west... I forgot how beautiful it is, and I forgot about a certain spirit that resides out here, and I forgot how good it felt to be halfway free... But I never forgot the open sky. This place has been welcoming in its simple embrace and wide-open vistas.
Memory is long, history is deep, and humanity is complex. These things find their way into the creative work that I do, as part of the very fabric of my being. And as I continue to learn about the people and the stories of the Pacific Northwest, the trees that have long called this place home have already been speaking to me. They know I listen. They know I see them.
"Alexandria Levin leaves an empathic imprint in all her work. Her work is in various forms of beautiful motion. Storytelling in whispers, a poet might say. Her works are emotional and unafraid, yet come with unusual warmth and serenity for such truth-telling."
