1990–1994 Mixed-Media on Wood Constructions | previousnext

Sometimes painting takes a side trip alongside the various main roads. So I play. These were heavy plywood constructions. The first two were part of an installation; Rooms for the Dead, in 1991. The third and the fifth pieces were created specifically for the exhibition; Issue of Identity at the San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery. (see CV linked to artist page for info on both) The fourth painting... Looking out my kitchen window one day, I saw those gloves hanging on a clothes line in Noe Valley. I found them to be very intriguing for some odd reason.

Acrylic paints, metallic and interference colors, textured acrylic gels and modeling paste and STUFF, finished with touches of oil paint. Each one is a mini-installation, with all materials carefully selected to better tell the intended story.
