Still-life as iconic portraiture. Tiny little worlds. I was introduced to Henry La Thangue and other British and Scottish painters of his time... and the square brush. Like oil paint, and then panel, the utilization of the square brush opened up new worlds for me. You can see it there in Green Bartlett, and in much of my work since.
