One painting expressed the urgent need for cleaning inside stuff out, and other two were dream spaces with water issues. These two were some of the hardest paintings I have ever done. I had hit the wall, where a body of work has played itself out after so many years. I didn’t want to, couldn’t possibly paint another bird or fish this way. I wanted the real thing. I was done.

Now, how to paint a fish when it needs to be refrigerated all the time. How to paint a bird when they won’t sit still. And dream space, near impossible. I love these paintings now. I could barely look at them at the time, but in retrospect I can see the transition, and creative transition is an amazing process.
