1999–2000 Stuffed Creatures | previous • next
And so they went. More stuffed animals. More creatures. More critters. Albuquerque has the bestest thrift stores, and I lived two blocks from Thrift Town. They needed their portraits painted. I could see into their little fuzzy souls and would do my best to bring that out and tell their stories.
Another shift from the previous year was from canvas to panel for my basic painting support. I always liked playing with new materials and surfaces, and the local art supply store had stacks of masonite panels in all kinds of wonderful odd sizes, so I brought some home. It took a little while to adapt to the change, but with rare exception over the next ten years, I didn’t look back. It’s all about panel now.
